We are proud to have worked closely with the Kapor Center for Social Impact to develop their new visual identity and website design. On May 15, 2013, Mitchell Kapor Foundation officially launched their new public face as Kapor Center for Social Impact.
The Kapor Center for Social Impact’s mission is to “relentlessly pursue creative strategies that will leverage information technology for positive social impact.” They are working primarily with underrepresented communities, focusing on closing academic, political, health, and economic gaps.
The concept for the logo design came out of an in-depth process where we explored many options. The concept landed on is about intersections. The Kapor Center is a place where projects and ideas can intersect and gain new momentum. The Center is intentional about being in partnership with social impact entrepreneurs, tech providers and social change makers and creating innovative points of collaboration.
The typography was chosen for its complementary rounded letterforms, and its clean slightly art deco look which mirrors the art deco architecture of the Uptown district of Oakland.
Design Action worked in a close partnership with Kapor Center. We designed and developed the new website, and marketing materials, all showcasing the new look and visual brand. A comprehensive style guide was created to ensure visual brand consistency. We look forward to our continued relationship with Kapor Center as they move forward with their mission and readying the physical location of the Center to open in 2015.
